Yatra Movie Review – Vetagadu

The much awaited movie about YSR Padayatra has finally released in the theaters today i.e on Feb 8th. Malayalam Mega Star Mammootty has played the lead role as Y Rajashekar Reddy the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Is the phase where Congress party got its power back for more than a decade.

Mammootty, Ashrita Vemuganti, Anasuya, Jagapathi Babu, Nagineedu, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rao Ramesh, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar, Sachin Khedekar, are seen in the lead and supporting roles. The film is all about the period of 2013. Mammootty went into the shoes of Rajashekar Reddy and we can see the great leader on screen as he is born again or go back to the period of Padayatra.

The film lacks the production values but the background music is neat and apt. Lyrics for this film penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry are too good. Mahi V Raghav has delivered YSR Political Yatra to a huge extent. Yatra is not a complete biopic YSR but showcases an important phase of his political career. The second half of the film can be more good but still satisfied the audience and YSR fans.

Rao Ramesh also get good scope in the film and he took it to the next level. Ashrita Vemuganti doesn’t have much scope other than supporting to the role of YSR. Overall a one time watch and a lost opportunity for the director as there are more expectation than potrayed on the screen.
